Blessed...

What a blast we had. Pictures are coming, but had to put something on here because it was too great of a trip. The goodbyes were a little easier AND a little harder this time. Easier with my mom because I get to see her in THREE weeks. She is flying down here for Mother's Day weekend - how fun, I get to be with my mom for Mother's Day. Easier for several of my friends because they are planning trips down here this summer. Harder saying goodbye to my in-laws, nephews and niece because the next trip planned up that direction isn't until October. Yikes - that is six months away.

Phil and I keep saying we are blessed beyond measure. We absolutely love living in California and know we are here because God has sent us here and has given us a great church and friends already. But we sure do have GREAT family and friends back home. How many people can say they are loved this much in TWO states....

Blessed I tell you, blessed more than I can explain....

And...First Place Goes To......

They did it!! The Bible Quiz Team that Logan is on took 1st place last weekend. What an exciting day it was. Quiz Tournaments use a bracket system and double elimination. On Friday, they got beat, so when Saturday came they knew one more loss meant they were done for the weekend. They ended up winning three games and went into the championship game. The team they went against in the championship game hadn't lost yet, which meant they had to beat them twice to get first place. They were really intimidated by one of the quizzers on this team because he averaged 125 points per quiz at the last tournament. But, they were so focused and as I call it "in the zone" from quizzing so many times in row that they beat them - TWICE!!

You can not imagine how stressful it is. To date, these kids have memorized 172 verses from the Book of Luke and spend between 45 and 90 minutes a day reviewing, memorizing, quoting, etc. I think these four boys now know that hard work and diligence truly pays off.

Here is Logan completely focused on the question that is coming. The awesome thing is that these kids have a huge amount of self control and have to focus on the Quiz Master - and nothing else. They have to be so focused so that they can read the Quiz Masters lips or even see his jaw moving for the next word. They are taught to look for these things in order to "interrupt" at the perfect time. It is absolutely amazing to watch!!

Then, they announced the "All-Tournament Team" - the top five quizzers of the day which is decided by their average points per quiz. Logan was the highest scoring quizzer of the day, with an average of 103 points per quiz!! It was a great moment - not only for him, but for his parents and coaches also.

Logan has worked so hard the last couple years on his quizzing and I am so thankful he got to enjoy this moment to motivate him to continue working hard.

Congratulations Logan!!!
Now it is back to work because we have another quiz in just a few weeks!!
